Alarms Are Sounding: Grief Over the Great Falling Away and Deception Regarding Israel

My heart is heavy this morning for the many loud “Jesus people” racing toward a judgment they claim isn’t even real.

For a long time, especially in the last year, I’ve immersed myself in the Word, and the warnings jump off the page. This is especially true of prophecies about the Church, the great falling away, and the alarms sounding in real time. They’re being fulfilled before our eyes.

Some days I feel like the “crazy” watchman on the wall (Ezekiel 33:7), as so many have labeled me, shouting into a fierce and unforgiving wind tunnel. In Ezekiel 33, God appoints the prophet as a watchman over Israel: if he sees danger coming and doesn’t sound the alarm, the blood of the unwarned is on his hands. If he warns faithfully, his soul is delivered—even if people don’t listen.

This ancient role feels painfully relevant today. As believers grafted into God’s family, we carry a similar responsibility: to speak truth in love when we see brothers and sisters veering toward deception or disobedience. Silence would make me complicit; speaking, even when it’s unwelcome, is obedience born of care.

But the weight isn’t about my own faith or walk. Those are anchored. The heaviness comes from knowing and loving so many of these dear ones, even some I’ve cherished nearly my whole life.

Because of their choice to turn their backs not just on fellow believers amid the great falling away (2 Thessalonians 2:3), but on Israel — and thus on God’s clear instructions and covenants (Genesis 12:3; Romans 11:17-18, Romans 11:28-29) — they are walking a path that ends in the Lord’s solemn words:

Depart from Me; I never knew you. (Matthew 7:23)

If someone professes Christ but persists in deception that ends in twisting Scripture, ignoring warnings, or embracing views that contradict God’s revealed will, it is evidence that their faith was superficial or never saving to begin with (1 John 2:19).

This isn’t just about modern politics. More importantly, it’s about honoring God’s irrevocable gifts and calling to Israel (Romans 11:29), avoiding replacement theology arrogance, and not aligning with deception that opposes God’s plans (e.g., end-times gatherings against Israel in prophecy like Zechariah 12-14).

In Romans 11, Paul uses the vivid picture of an olive tree to describe God’s people. The “natural branches” are Israel; unbelieving ones are broken off due to unbelief, and believing Gentiles (wild branches) are grafted in by faith. But Paul issues a stern warning to us Gentiles:

Do not be arrogant toward the branches… remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. (Romans 11:18).

The root — God’s covenants, promises, and faithfulness — remains tied to Israel. Arrogance toward the natural branches risks the grafted ones being cut off too. Turning against Israel, whether through dismissal of its biblical role or embrace of views that replace it entirely with the Church, isn’t neutral. It can signal a heart drifting from the fullness of God’s Word.

To those who have turned or fallen away, I say this not in anger, but in grief and urgent love:

The alarms are real. The prophecies are unfolding. Turn back while there’s time. Be aware of not just outright deception but of the twisting of the truth. Please, reconsider your theology and your comprehension of what you consume.

Yet even in this warning, there is hope. God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). He pursues the lost sheep, and many who wander do return when confronted with truth and bathed in prayer.

If you’re reading this and feeling conviction, that stirring may be the Holy Spirit calling you home. Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). God’s mercy is deeper than our failures.

To those who are feeling much the way I am describing in this writing, this is heavy stuff, and it’s okay to feel the weight. You’re not wrong to be concerned. The Bible itself is concerned enough to issue repeated alarms. Hold fast to truth, pray fervently, and trust God with the outcomes.

My family and I are praying earnestly for eyes to open and hearts to return. May God bless you today.
