Verse & Vision | Update — Technical Difficulties

I received an email overnight making me aware that our Verse & Vision posts have not been updating daily, and I want to address that directly.

I write these posts the night before they go up as part of my Bible study and prayer time, and schedule them to publish every morning at 6AM. For a while now the posts have been going live sometimes an hour before and sometimes an hour after the scheduled time, and I have submitted previous tickets trying to solve that issue. But it appears they stopped publishing altogether over the last few days.

I am going to manually publish the posts that did not go live automatically, but I will not be flooding your inboxes with all the backdated posts at once. I am turning off email updates altogether at this point, as they appear to be intermittent regardless, and I have contacted WordPress support to find out why my scheduled posts are not behaving as set.

I have done everything I can to test and troubleshoot on my end. WordPress has not yet replied to my most recent inquiries, but whatever the issue is, it does not appear to be anything on my side of the technology.

To be perfectly frank, my patience with WordPress has been waning for quite some time, especially considering the cost of their services and the fact that their tools rarely work as they should and are far too complicated for what they are in the first place. Therefore, while we troubleshoot the current issues, we are simultaneously looking at making changes to our hosting and our parent site.

It may be time to take full ownership and simply write and program the site ourselves. I have also already been considering transitioning to a weekly newsletter update versus an email notification for each post.

You may think to yourself, “it’s just a silly blog website, not a massive business or foundation or church.” You are not wrong. However, that is precisely the issue. While the skill is not lacking to rebuild and run the site privately on my own time, like most bloggers my family and I have everyday lives, jobs, and responsibilities. The time requirement is the only thing that has stopped this change in the past.

Thank you for your patience, and a very special thank you to Phil, who has been helping me stay aware of what is happening behind the scenes. Please keep us in your prayers as we confront these issues and consider our options. We want only to follow God in what He wants for this site and our lives.

I am many things. I am a mother, a wife, a homemaker, a counselor, a teacher, and a caregiver. I am also, at the core and most importantly, a seeker. My hobbies and my work are one and the same. I am an artist. I am a writer, photographer, musician, and bookworm. I love film, music, words - ART. More than anything, I am an expressionist. I hope you enjoy your visit to this site, and if you have any questions/suggestions please feel free to contact me. Thanks for visiting!
