Spirit, speaking to anyone who reads this:
To those who have always felt like the crazy ones because you have understood this intuitively your whole life, this is comfort: you were never wrong.
To those still searching for themselves, you are already there. Look deeper, and you will see.
And to those who rage at the world’s brokenness yet refuse any accountability for your own hypocrisy and its consequences, you are the reason it stays this way. You are your own worst enemy, not the external chaos you fight and complain about while remaining rooted in the very systems that feed it.
The root of disconnection is identity theft of the soul.
A War Over Identity
There is a war happening right now, not merely in the physical realm of politics, economics, and culture, but in the spiritual realm. It is a battle for identity. It is not just a battle about our individual sense of self, but the collective identity of humanity itself.
Most people today do not truly know who they are. Their souls hunger for something deeper, yet they were never given the tools to explore it. Instead, they were handed pre-packaged identities through curated media, social conditioning, algorithm-driven narratives, and institutional scripts. This engineered disconnection explains the exhausting tension between religion and spirituality – two realities that were always meant to dance together, not war against one another.
Religion, at its best, was meant to ground us in divine truth and provide holy structure. Spirituality was meant to awaken us, drawing us into ever-deepening relationship with the living God and expanding our understanding beyond rigid doctrine. Yet how can we grasp this partnership when we have lost the relationship with our own souls? When we have been fed a surface-level script that reduces purpose to feeling good, paying bills, and chasing material success? We are missing the entire point of existence.
Scripture’s Ancient Warning: This Was Always the Plan
The Bible has always warned of this exact disconnection, when people trade living truth for comfortable illusions.
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. (2 Timothy 4:3)
We are living in that time. Rather than seeking truth, many chase confirmation of what they already prefer or whatever feels validating in the moment. The algorithm-powered world is the perfect echo chamber, serving customized realities that keep souls locked in false understanding. People rarely encounter the raw presence of God because everything they believe has been pre-digested, controlled, and delivered in bite-sized, emotionally manipulative formats.
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the created things rather than the Creator. (Romans 1:25)
Modern culture has done precisely this. Worship no longer rises to the Creator; it bows to systems, celebrities, social movements, trends, and self-crafted identities. Lives are built on artificially engineered realities. When anything threatens to shatter the illusion, the response is often fury, cancellation, or deeper entrenchment.
The Stagnation of a Society That Never Grew Up
We do not merely live in a settling society. We live in one that is spiritually and emotionally stunted, stuck in perpetual adolescence.
From childhood, most were fed pre-approved narratives about reality itself. Television, public education, social media, and government-endorsed truths shaped every question before it could fully form. Children did not explore the world; they were told what to believe about it. The result? Generations grasping at pre-made identities from the internet, consuming rather than thinking, chasing validation instead of purpose.
This is why so many are miserable. Not because life is inherently meaningless, but because they were never equipped to navigate its depths. They never formed a true identity rooted in the divine. They never learned critical thinking, so they outsource it. They never discovered God-given purpose, so they fill the void with distractions.
Screens Have Stolen the Depth of Life
The issue runs deeper than technology itself. It is how technology has been weaponized to reshape human experience.
Screens entered early, replacing the slow work of developing critical thinking with pre-determined narratives, building deep relationships with shallow curated interactions, learning patience and resilience with instant gratification, and seeking God directly with trending ideologies and social approval.
Everything became about the feeling of the moment rather than what is true and life-giving over the long haul. This is the enemy’s masterstroke.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)
Satan rarely needs outright rejection of God. Distraction suffices. Keep souls scrolling, comparing, performing, and consuming, and they never pause long enough to seek the One who truly knows them.
Reclaiming Your Identity: The Only Way Out
The path back is singular: return to the true foundation of identity, God Himself.
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)
We were never meant to be passive consumers of information. We were created to test everything against God’s truth. We were never meant to find identity in the world’s marketplace. We were meant to root it in Christ. We were never meant to live as spectators. We were called to co-create with the Creator, building lives of purpose, truth, and deep spiritual understanding.
This requires surrender. It demands we lay down the comfort of pre-packaged selves and step into the sometimes uncomfortable process of being known and transformed by the living God. It means embracing authenticity over performance, soul over ego, relationship over ritual.
It’s Time to Wake Up
The longer we remain plugged into distraction, the harder awakening becomes. Those of us who question, think, grow, and refuse to shrink are often labeled extreme or crazy because a soul awake threatens the entire illusion.
I will not shrink for the comfort of others. I will not deny truth because it unsettles the slumbering. I will not stay silent while a generation’s minds and souls are stolen.
This is spiritual warfare. The battle is for hearts, minds, and the collective witness of what it means to be human.
Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. (Ephesians 5:14)
Closing Thoughts: Choose Truth Over Comfort
The world will always beckon you back into comfortable slumber. It will tell you that you are overthinking, that you should just go with the flow, that questioning everything is exhausting.
But comfort is not clarity, and ignorance is not peace.
God calls us to open eyes, discerning spirits, and lives lived fully awake. He invites us out of the enemy’s crafted emptiness and into the abundant, purposeful life we were created for.
The choice remains yours each day. Will you continue consuming the illusion, or will you wake up, reclaim your mind, your soul, and your God-given identity?
