The Truth About Your Feelings | Daily Bread

A conversation with a friend I love became the doorway to a truth I didn’t fully understand myself until I took it to God in prayer. We think we know the difference between the devil and God because we were handed a picture as children, an angel on one shoulder, a devil on the other, good feelings and bad feelings marking which one we’ve chosen. But that picture is incomplete, and it left me unable to help my friend see what I was actually trying to say. This post is the tool God gave me instead, a way to finally understand feelings for what they are, where they come from, and how to tell the difference between what is righteous and what only wears righteousness as a costume.

You have done the hard work of recognition. You have named the patterns, traced the roots, sat with the uncomfortable truth that something in you has been bound.
But knowing is not freedom.
Knowledge of bondage, without movement toward liberation, can itself become a subtle trap — one where understanding becomes a substitute for transformation.
This is the final post in the series, and it carries the weight of everything that came before it. We have diagnosed. We have defined. We have mapped the terrain.
Now we turn toward the door.

The Freedom Series | Bound No More: How Bondage Shows Up in Us

Excerpt
Bondage doesn’t stay hidden in the abstract. It incarnates — finding a home in the specific texture of how we think, what we say, what we do, and how we relate to one another. It leaks out in ways we can barely see in ourselves, even when others see it clearly. In Part Four of Bound No More, we trace the recognizable shapes bondage takes when it moves from theology into biography.
